Travel CoordinatorsAs a TWP member you may choose to be a Travel Coordinator working from home, or anywhere you have access to a phone and email. You are the life blood of Travel Writing Partners, reaching out to various venues and travel destinations, offering them the opportunity to be "covered" in our online Travel Magazine in exchange for their goods and services.
For instance, you might have a Writer or Reporter that posts that they are going to Toronto, Canada in November and staying for a week. You reach out to the Writer to see what area of Toronto they are wanting to stay in, then you jump on the phone and email, tracking down potential hotels, restaurants and fun things to do. Contact the business with the offer (you will have pre-written emails, flyers and contracts), and see who is interested. There is no "selling" involved, the business is either interested, or not, if not, just move on to the next one. Simple. Revenue Generating: 1) Once you have a "FAM Package" coordinated, let the Writer/Reporter know it is posted and available. You set the FEE to compensate you for your time, generally it should be 10-20% of the retail value of the package. Once posted on our "FAM Packages" page... someone is sure to snap it up! You keep 80% of the Administrative fee , TWP gets 20% to process, as well as to follow up and obtain (edit and post) the content received from our writers/reporters. 2) Additionally, you might find leads for our Marketing Partners (see below), or choose to work as a Marketing Partner AND Coordinator. It's completely up to you. Learn more about AD REVENUE sharing here. |
Marketing Partners: |
When you join TWP you might choose to work as a Marketing Partner. This is a great "work from home" business where you help secure advertisers for our online magazine... "Travel Writing Adventures." You may choose to ferret out your own leads and retain 100% of the commission (which is about 70% of AD REVENUE, or use warm leads supplied by our Travel Coordinators (above), Writers and Reporters and keep 70% of the commission. It's completely up to you and you may do both. You may also choose to wear multiple "hats" and work as both a Travel Coordinator and Marketing Partner. Both are independent positions where you have complete control of your schedule.
You'll be provided with everything you need to get started. We have scripts, flyers and, soon, videos, to help you sell advertising in our online magazine. Membership in TWP (just $9 month) provides you with BOTH a part time business of your own AND some great travel opportunities. Additionally, once you are a proven "results driven" Marketing Partner, you'll also be offered additional revenue generating opportunities from your fellow TWP members. For instance, one of our Videographers might offer you the opportunity to sell their custom video services. We might be hired (perhaps by a Chamber of Commerce or Visitors Bureau) to launch an online guide for a specific destination. TWP will be continually looking for creative, revenue generating projects for our members to get involved in. |
Benefits of TWP Membership: |
ANY one of our TWP members can choose to wear multiple "hats." For instance, you might work as a Travel Coordinator, a Marketing Partner AND a Reporter.
As a member of Travel Writing Partners you enjoy multiple benefits, including the ability to obtain "FAM Packages" (FAM: "familiarity") which are travel packages by businesses wishing you to write or report about them, and offering their services for free. A package might include accommodations, meals at various restaurants and cafes, and tickets for attractions or shows. Most packages will have some kind of administrative fee (to compensate our Travel Coordinators who put them together), and, if you utilize the service offered, you are agreeing to write about that business. How do "FAM Packages" work exactly? Let's say you are looking at a FAM Package to Madrid, Spain. It includes 3 days and 2 nights at a hotel, meals at 4 local restaurants, tickets to a show and a tour (all for two people). The retail value is $1000. There might be an administrative fee of $150-$200 for the package (fees will vary). 80% of this is going to the Travel Coordinator who put it together, reaching out to the businesses, sending the contracts, etc. 20% goes to TWP as an administrative and processing fee. There will also be a "Deposit" required, usually of several hundred dollars, which will be refunded to you when you turn in your articles (or reporting) for the online magazine (this is to insure people don't just take advantage of the offers without holding up their end of the deal. You are not required to use everything in the package. For instance, if you can't take the tour, or one of the meals, just return the contract for those. They will be included in another package (if you can't use everything though, you do not get a partial refund of the administrative fee. That's fair, right? After all, the Coordinator already did the work). When you secure a "FAM Package" it will be emailed to you. Each venue will have a signed contract outlining their address, contact information and contact person. If there are special instructions, they will be included. For instance, a hotel might want to insure you feature their SPA services, or a restaurant might request you interview the owner or chef. Other instructions might include calling ahead before showing up, making a reservation, taking a photograph of a certain area, etc. You will be able to contact the Travel Coordinator with any questions beforehand and, if you feel the package is more than you want to handle, you may ask them for a reduced package, or to use just a few of the items in it. By having these arrangements made in advance, you will feel comfortable going into your "assignment" and the people you meet through these packages will help you make invaluable contacts and friends that will be there for you for YEARS to come! Do you like to like to travel but don't think of yourself as a writer? That's when you choose to be a "Travel Reporter." You don't write the actual article, just provide reporting (and photos or videos) to a writer that does. Again, you may hold more than one position with Travel Writing Partners, you may be a Writer or Reporter AND a Travel Coordinator or Marketing Partner, or all three! After all, this is YOUR business, you are self employed, choose your own schedule, your own duties, etc. You will receive a 1099 each year for the income you have generated to that you can properly file your tax returns and prove the legitimacy of your travel and business deductions!
