Turn your love of writing, photography and travel into a part time business

We're here to support YOU!

ANYone can contribute content and retain full copyright. We will publish your contact information with your article, photos or videos so that those wishing to contact you for reprinting rights may do so.

Benefits to you include extra exposure on the web and links back to your OWN website or blog, increasing your traffic. We do not care whether you are a new, or experienced, writer, however we do reserve the right to suggest edits before publication and, if you are a "newbie," we might suggest you reach out to one of our more experienced writers for mentoring and editing. We often have writers who's first language is not english, so if this is the case for you, don't worry, we will fix any grammatical errors before we post online.

You may also JOIN Travel Writing Partners and enjoy the benefits below...

Benefits of TWP Membership:

By joining Travel Writing Partners you enjoy enhanced benefits, including the ability to obtain "FAM Packages" (FAM: "familiarity") .

What is a FAM Package and how do "FAM Packages" work exactly?

FAM Packages  are travel packages containing "freebies" and "perks" by businesses wishing you to write about them and offering their services for free. A package might include accommodations, meals at various restaurants and cafes, and tickets for attractions or shows. Most packages will have some kind of administrative fee (to compensate our Travel Coordinators who put them together for you), and, if you utilize the service offered, you are agreeing to write about that business.

Let's say you are looking at a FAM Package to Madrid, Spain. It includes 3 days and 2 nights at a hotel, meals at 4 local restaurants, tickets to a show and a tour (all for two people). The retail value is $1000.

There might be an administrative fee of $150  to $200 for the package (fees vary). 80% of this is going to the Travel Coordinator who put it together, reaching out to the businesses, sending the contracts, etc. 20% goes to TWP as an administrative and processing fee to cover time spent following up and posting your content when you submit it.

There MIGHT also be a "Deposit" required, if you are new to this, which will be refunded to you when you turn in your articles, photos, videos (or reporting) for the online magazine (this is to insure people don't just take advantage of the offers without holding up their end of the deal.

You are not required to use everything in the package. For instance, if you can't take the tour, or one of the meals, just return the contract for those items, They can be included in another package (if you can't use everything though, you do not get a partial refund of the administrative fee. After all, the Travel Coordinator already did the work, right?).

When you secure a "FAM Package" it will be emailed to you. Each venue will have a signed contract outlining their address, contact information and contact person. If there are special instructions, they will be included. For instance, a hotel might want to insure you feature their SPA services, or a restaurant might request you interview the owner or chef. Other instructions might include calling ahead before showing up, making a reservation, taking a photograph of a certain area, etc.

You will be able to contact the Travel Coordinator with any questions beforehand and, if you feel the package is more than you want to handle, you may ask them for a reduced package, or to use just a few of the items in it.

By having these arrangements made in advance, you will feel comfortable going into your "assignment" and the people you meet through these  packages will help you make invaluable contacts and friends that will be there for you for YEARS to come!

Do you like to like to travel but don't think of yourself as a writer?  Check out our "Travel Reporter" positions. With those you don't write the actual article, just provide reporting (and photos or videos) to a writer that does.

Income Opportunities...

Acting as a reporter, or writer, still allows you to earn  income.  See our AD REVENUE page for details.

Do you want to wear multiple "hats?" Keep in mind that you may hold more than one position with Travel Writing Partners, you may be a Writer/Editor AND a Travel Coordinator or Marketing Partner, or all three! After all, this is YOUR business, you are self employed, choose your own schedule, your own duties, etc. You will receive a 1099 each year for the income you have generated so that you can properly file your tax returns and prove the legitimacy of your travel deductions!

Additional Membership Benefits:

  • "Press Credentials." As a member you will receive a Press Card and Press "Pass" to hang on a lanyard from your neck when you are onsite interviewing, shooting or reporting. These credentials should be able to help you obtain additional perks and connections "on the fly." Wear your badge or shirt out places and see who approaches you!
NOTE: You will receive your Press Credentials after your 3 month trial membership is up.
  • Member Store:  Get extra badges, business cards, t-shirts, polos, and dress shirts with the TWP or TWA logos on them for wearing while reporting. Open more doors with your professional attire!
  • Revenue Share! You have several ways to make money with Travel Writing Partners:
    1) Lead/Referral Generation.  While you are interviewing with, or reporting on, venues (or when you make contacts at ANY venue)  during your travel, simply obtain the contact information for the decision maker of the business and ask if they would like information on advertising in our magazine. Turn those "leads" into our Marketing Department and one of our Marketing Partners will follow up. You will receive a "referral commission" for each advertiser.
    2) Be a Travel Coordinator and put together FAM packages for our Members... you keep at least 80% of the administrative fee.
    3) Be a Marketing Partner and use the leads generated by our traveling members to secure sponsors and advertisers for our website and newsletter. You keep the majority of the commission (70%)... a small amount (30%) goes to the person who flipped you the leads. If you are a content contributor (writer, photographer, videographer, etc., you will earn 30% of the ad revenue when an advertiser requests specifically that an Ad be placed within your content.
    4) Bonuses. For our writers and contributors, if we start generating a good amount of "in-house" (Google AdSense) ad revenue, we will periodically share that through a bonus structure.
NOTE: See AD REVENUE SHARING here.
  • Travel Discounts. We will be putting together a list of venues that offer discounts without a requirement to "cover" their venue. These offers will be available to any credentialed member.
  • Free "Tax Tip" training to insure you know the rules on how to deduct the maximum possible for your travel expenses. You are "self employed" in the travel business so deducting travel expenses, meals, even office expenses, for your home office can be possible if you know the rules (you will receive a 1099 tax form for your income).
  • Be an Editor / Mentor! If you are an experienced writer or editor, you can make yourself available to new writers that want guidance or ghostwriting / editorial services. You negotiate any revenue shares, or fees, between yourself.
  • Offer to WRITE for one of our "Travel Reporters." Our Travel Reporters love to travel, and are happy to "report," shoot video, and take photographs, of their travels. If you love writing but are not able to travel yourself as much as you'd like, offer your services to our Travel Reporters! As the writer YOU retain full copyright ownership of your work as well as half the "content creator" revenue... THEY got the benefit of reduced travel and other "perks" from our "FAM Packages."
  • Do you already have an income generating travel  or web site of your own? GREAT! Working with Travel Partners means more exposure for that as well. Do you shoot your own videos? Post them on YouTube first to generate the ad revenue from that... then we will embed them here to generate more traffic.
  • Special Projects: Members also will be advised of special projects that come up through the site. For instance, we already are planning a print publication and several of our members are filmmakers who need help for various projects. Our NEWSLETTER will inform you of these opportunities as they arise.
